How to Find Out Your Skin Type

If you want to choose the best skincare regimen for you, you need to know what type of skin you have! Identifying your skin type isn't as easy as it may seem, and that's why we're sharing our secrets with you in this blog post!

There are several different skin types, from oily to dry to sensitive, and knowing which type you have will go a long way in determining which skincare and makeup products are perfect for you.

Let's take a look!

Dry Skin

Identifiers: Skin is flaky, itchy, feeling tight, sensitive, or cracking.

Tips: Your dry skin could be a result of being just dry, or it might be dehydrated. Dryness is caused by a lack of oil in the skin, whereas dehydration is your skin not having enough moisture. For dry skin, try a rich moisturizer paired with our Liquid Sunshine Elixir several times a day to lock in moisture. For dehydrated skin, drink more water during the day and avoid water-based products. Dreamy Dewdrops Hydrating Mist is perfect throughout the day!

Oily Skin

Identifiers: Skin is always glowing or extra dewy, you gravitate towards blotting strips and matte products, makeup tends to slip and slide throughout the day.

Tips: A common mistake is to stop moisturizing. But you actually still need moisturizer! Look for oil-free moisturizers, chemical exfoliants, and clay masks. Do not over-wash your face -- This can cause your pores to dry out and thus produce more oil.

Combination Skin

Identifiers: Skin is dry in some spots and oily in others, you're having a hard time determining what skin type you have.

Tips: Focus on balance! Stay away from alcohol-based products. Try and isolate problem areas by using spot treatments, toners, or balancing creams.

Sensitive Skin

Identifiers: Redness, rashes, bumps, easy irritation, stinging, and burning.

Tips: The best thing you can do is to avoid products with fragrances, unnatural ingredients, and irritants like alcohol or antibacterials. Look for products with fewer additives and that focus on calming and healing.

Normal Skin

Identifiers: Very few breakouts, no negative reactions to new products or weather changes, consistent moisture, not oily, few fine lines or wrinkles.

Tips: If this is you, consider yourself lucky! Having normal skin, you can tolerate most products and you're free to experiment heavily. The most important thing for you is maintaining your normal skin with the products you like best.

Mature Skin

Identifiers: Skin becomes dryer as it ages; fine lines and wrinkles may appear here and there; dark spots, dullness, dryness.

Tips: Develop an anti-aging skincare regimen to tackle past and present damage to your skin due to aging. Build a team of products that aim to restore, boost collagen, promote cell turnover, and protect you from environmental aggressors.
